Ecological Surveys nr. Much Wenlock

Development of a former quarry near Much Wenlock triggered the need for a wide range of ecological survey work to establish the baseline conditions of the site and therefore anticipate the impact of the development.

Protected species surveys carried out at the site were: hazel dormouse, reptile species, bat species, great crested newt and breeding birds. Extensive botanical surveys were carried out on areas of limestone grassland and other habitats on site included ancient woodland, scrub and open water. Survey work was staggered over three survey seasons as the project developed, gathering detailed information about the wildlife value of the site.

Arbor Vitae produced baseline condition reports, mitigation and compensation plans, a Construction Environment Management Plan and habitat and woodland management plans for the future of the site.
